Account, privacy, and operation
Update your profile, security, preferences, and privacy choices
Manage how you sign in, how YARCalc presents information, and which optional messages or automatic updates you receive.
Account Settings changes access and convenience, not the retirement assumptions
Account Settings is where you manage sign-in identity, password and multifactor security, display preferences, reminder emails, starting-page behavior, and selected automatic account features. These choices affect how you access and use YARCalc. They do not alter the financial facts inside a scenario unless the setting explicitly describes a planning update.
This distinction matters when troubleshooting. Changing a date display does not change the date stored in the plan; turning off email does not remove an on-screen action item; changing a password does not create a new retirement-plan version.
Security changes deserve immediate attention; convenience settings do not
Review Security after an email change, password concern, authenticator replacement, lost device, or suspicious session. Change convenience preferences only when the current display, landing page, reminder schedule, or automatic-update behavior no longer suits you.
Enable only the messages and automatic features you actually want. A reminder email is not required for the Dashboard reminder to exist, and an automatic summary should not be mistaken for a fresh analysis unless the feature explicitly reran it.
Before changing sign-in information, make sure you can access the new email or authenticator and that current recovery information is available. Do not discard the old access method until the new one is confirmed.
Treat identity, security, and communication as separate choices
A new sign-in email takes effect only after the verification step is completed. A password change protects the same account and ends other signed-in sessions. Multifactor authentication adds the current authenticator code to the sign-in process; preserve recovery information in a secure location outside YARCalc.
Choose the date format and starting page that make the application easier to read. These are presentation choices. Confirm a planning date’s actual meaning in the scenario rather than inferring it from the visual order alone.
Email preferences control optional messages. Automatic Home balance updates cover supported quoted holdings under the stated schedule; manually valued assets, property, debt, and unsupported securities still need review.
Verify the setting where its effect should appear
Reopen Account Settings and confirm the saved choice. After an email, password, or multifactor change, verify that the intended sign-in method works before discarding recovery information. Review active sessions when a device should no longer have access.
Check a planning page for the selected date display, the next sign-in for the starting-page behavior, and the Dashboard or email preference for reminders. If an automatic balance feature is enabled, inspect the resulting values and source dates rather than assuming every asset was refreshed.
Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Financial Disclosures govern service and data commitments. Help explains how to use the controls; it does not replace those documents.
Preferences cannot guarantee delivery or secure unsafe handling
Email delivery can be delayed or blocked, and an automatic summary can become stale as circumstances change. YARCalc cannot protect a password, authenticator secret, recovery code, or financial document that you send through an insecure channel or share with another person.
Never send passwords, authentication codes, account numbers, or private financial documents by ordinary email. Use the supported account and security controls, and contact support without including secrets.
